Loire Valley Regions: Chinon, Descartes, Tours

The medieval town of Chinon is located in the heart of the Loire Valley resting by the banks of the majestic Vienne river. It is a town steeped in history and rich with culture. The cobbles and timber houses dating back to the fifteenth century give you a feel of its importance in both in French as well as English history. 

Descartes is set on the river Creuse, in Southern Touraine within the Loire Valley. The town has a very rich historical heritage with the House Museum René Descartes and the Museum Rene Boylesve showcasing it's various aspects. In addition, the churches, like the Notre Dame church of the Hague with its frescos of the 12th century, and its old district of the Paper Mills all add to the charm of this interesting city. 

Tours, the principle town of the Loire Valley has a well preserved heritage which rests easily against its vibrant modern and dynamic image of today.  With the sights like the Tours Cathedral and the Medieval District, le Vieux Tours, together with its beautiful parks make Tours the ideal destination for a group looking for a cultural programme.
