Homestays

For the more experienced language teachers who may be familiar with the destination they are travelling to we have the option of booking your host family accommodation and transport only. This allows group leaders the flexibility to organise all the other elements of the trip themselves such as sightseeing or visiting a school they have links with. What are homestays?

This is when students stay in pairs or groups of three with host families in the destination they are visiting. Living with a host family is the ideal way to understand another culture. Your students and group leaders will be immersed in the language and the way of life – it’s the perfect mean to build on the skills, you as a teacher have already taught them. 

Ardmore Educational Travel has been offering host family accommodation in Europe for over 25 years iand we have built up an enviable reputation for the quality of the host families with excellent locations. We receive excellent support from our partners at your chosen destination ensuring that your students’ homestay experience is a memorable one.

Our homestay centres are ideally located in the suburbs of larger cities and rarely in the centre, allowing easy access to all the major sights and attractions. Students are accommodated in the same area, in pairs or threes, although we may be able to accommodate some students on their own – this would be subject to a supplement and availability.
We will endeavour as far as possible to place your students as requested, however this is subject to availability of host families and you will be fully consulted of any changes which may occur. All students will receive full board accommodation – continental breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Group leaders are also accommodated in twin or triple rooms with host families.

Although we try as far as possible to accommodate students and teachers with host families with children, this is not always possible. In Spain, for example, many of our hosts are single ladies or mature couples whose grown up children have left home – we find that these hosts often provide the warmest and friendliest welcome.
