Situated 12km south of Innsbruck, the Stubai Valley must rank as one of the most beautiful in Austria’s Tirol. Surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the Stubai Alps, the Stubai contains five picturesque villages: Schoenberg, Telfes, Mieders, Fulpmes and Neustift.
It would be difficult to find another ski centre with more to offer. Snow is guaranteed 365 days of the year on the Stubai Glacier, together with a wealth of winter skiing through the valley and as wide a choice of après-ski and alternative activities as available anywhere in the Alps. With four ski areas to explore, providing ski terrain for the beginner through to expert, over 150km of piste, served by 44 skilifts, and abundant off-piste opportunities – you won´t be disappointed with the Stubai.

All the villages lie fairly close together and all are picturesque, fulfilling every expectation of the ‘picture postcard’ mountain village. Neustift and Fulpmes, which are only 8km apart, vie with each other as to being the major village of the Stubai.
Retaining all the traditional charm of their farming village origins, both are large, bustling resorts with numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and lively discos to visit as well as very impressive Sports Centres. Neustift is also the area name, which extends right up to the Stubai Glacier, and several of the satellite hamlets, such as Neustift-Neder and Neustift-Milders, have developed into mini resorts in their own right. Neustift is the closest village, at 15km, to the outstanding skiing of the Stubai Glacier at the head of the valley and also has the small but interesting ski area of Elfer (11’er) directly above, while Fulpmes lies at the foot of the Schlick 2000 ski centre. On the opposite side of the valley lies Mieders, in the opinion of many, the most beautiful village of the Stubai. Both Mieders and Schoenberg are traditional, tranquil villages, quieter than their larger neighbours, with a smaller choice of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes to explore. The limited skiing of Serles lies above Mieders while a link road gives quick access to the Schlick 2000 skilifts at Fulpmes, just 3km away.
| Off the slopes the Stubai offers impressive facilities and really does have something for everyone. There are three superb Sports Centres offering indoor tennis, squash and indoor swimming. Tobogganing is available on several runs, including the exhilarating 8km descent at Neustift (Austria´s longest – and not for the faint hearted!), as well as curling, ice-skating, alpine bowling and sleighrides. Innsbruck is easily reached for an excursion. On your final evening is the Ski School prize-giving. |
| Suitable for the beginner through to expert and providing a wide diversity of skiing, the Stubai is renowned as one of Austria’s top ski areas. In the valley, snow conditions are reliable from December through to late April while snow is guaranteed all-year on the Stubai Glacier. In total there are four ski areas in the Stubai connected by skibus, the two largest are the Stubai Glacial Ski Area at the head of the valley, 15km above Neustift, and the Schlick 2000 Ski Arena above Fulpmes. |

Stubai Glacial Ski Area 980m-3215m
The jewel in the crown of Stubai skiing! The Stubai Glacial Ski Area is the largest in the Stubai Valley and, enclosing five glaciers, is one of the largest all-year ski areas in Europe. Suited for the beginner through to expert, most of the 110km of marked terrain lies above 2300m. Between here and the summit we are usually able to ski from late October through to early June while skiing continues on the glacial slopes above 2600m every day of the year. Commencing from above Neustift at Mutterbergalm 1750m, two parallel 6-person telecabins ensure minimal queuing and both take you first to Station Fernau at 2300m,
where you can alight to connect to the skilifts and chairlifts. Or, stay onboard, and dependent upon which system you have boarded, be taken through to either Station Eisgrat at 2900m or to Station Gamsgarten 2600m. At Station Eisgrat 2900m, the centre of the all-year ski area with ski runs radiating out in all directions and skilifts to the summit, is the Panorama restaurant Eisgrat with restaurant, staffed kindergarten, ski school office, medical centre, skishop and large sun terrace.

The lift system has been carefully designed to maximise the skiing potential of this massive snowbowl. Chairlifts and skilifts rise to 3215m from where the views across the Alps to the Dolomites are breathtaking. The dome-shape of the mountains provides spacious slopes of diverse degrees of difficulty suitable for every grade of skier.
|
 |

At Station Gamsgarten 2600m there is also a large restaurant, ski runs leading back to the middle station and bottom station as well as chair and skilifts including the new 6-person chairlift to the summit.

There are long, wide and gentle blues for progressing beginners and intermediates with red and black graded pistes for the advanced and some very challenging runs, as well as four off-piste routes and plenty of powder skiing, for the expert.
The advanced will find that, in general, the slopes become more demanding as you descend the mountain. Runs from the summit are some 10km long with the 'Wilde Grube' and the (unmarked) runs continuing below the mid-Station Fernau being challenging and testing for the expert.
Beginners are particularly well catered for with excellent lift-served beginner areas at the middle station Fernau, Eisgrat and at Gamsgarten, before progressing onto the gentler blue runs of the system.
The Stubai Glacier is one of the few mountains where it can truthfully be said that an expert may take a beginner, both ride the telecabin together, meet for coffee and lunch, yet without compromise, both ski terrain suitable to their abilities. As such it is perfect for groups. An outstanding ski area!

In the shape of an amphitheatre, this area provides superb, snowsure ski terrain for every level of ski ability. Skilifts rise to 2240m giving access to a wide diversity of pisted ski terrain as well as to off-piste possibilities. There are long, wide and gentle blue graded runs for beginners and intermediates through to red and black graded runs to challenge the advanced. A choice of runs will bring you down to Schlickeralm 1600m and to more lift-served pistes, including the 4-person chairlift which ascends to the top station Sennesjoch 2240m. Beginners are well catered for with lift-served slopes at Froneben and at Schlickeralm. Excellent skiing for all abilities in spectacular scenery.
