Snowboarding
Snowboarding remains one of the most exciting
developments in wintersports and very popular
with schools. Snowboarding costs a little more than skiing as snowboarding equipment is more expensive to hire and the pupil/instructor ratio for instruction needs to be lower than for skiing. We also consider it essential for the safety of our school parties that snowboarding should include four hours daily instruction. Ardmore has been at the forefront of introducing snowboarding to schools, commencing with our now renowned and exclusive ‘Snowboard Camp’ on the Stubai Glacier in Austria which continues for Winter 2009 over February half-term and Easter, details below, in addition to which Ardmore now offers the opportunity of snowboarding in all our resorts
STUBAI SNOWBOARD CAMP
Departures 14 February and 4 or 11 April 2009
Introduced in 1996 the exclusive Ardmore ‘Snowboard Camp’ has proved very successful and popular on one of the best snowboarding locations in the Alps, the Stubai Glacier 3215m in Austria. Party leaders who have visited the Stubai Glacier will know that the facilities for snowboarding are excellent with a designated snowboarding fun park and half-pipe area, as well as pisted and off-piste runs of progressive degrees of difficulty. The Stubai is also one of Austria's top areas for skiing! Add guaranteed snow and the renowned excellence of the Neustift-Stubai Glacial Ski School; the Stubai and Snowboard Camp is an ideal solution for groups who would like to safely introduce snowboarding, in conjunction with skiing, to the school ski trip. Join the Snowboard Camp over February half-term or at Easter. Available to any of your party members, there are no minimum numbers on these dates. Participants from all our groups will be amalgamated and groups averaging 8 to an instructor will meet at the Panorama restaurant Eisgrat on the Stubai Glacier each day at 10am for a structured programme of snowboarding tuition over six days. STUBAI SNOWBOARD CAMP SUPPLEMENT INCLUDES SNOWBOARDING EQUIPMENT HIRE AND FOUR HOURS INSTRUCTION DAILY FOR SIX DAYS.
SNOWBOARDING IN OTHER RESORTS/DEPARTURE DATES
We are not able to operate a snowboard camp concept in other resorts/departure dates and snowboarding will be arranged on an individual group basis. The supplement required depends on the number of participants you have (or the pupil instructor ratio you choose) determined from the table below.
While the lower the pupil/instructor ratio the better, it is, of course progressively more expensive. We consider a ratio of 8 pupils to an instructor to be the optimum in terms of safety and cost effectiveness. Class sizes above 8 pupils should be avoided wherever possible and in no circumstances will we agree to class sizes in excess of 10 to an instructor.
SNOWBOARDING TASTER
Swap skis for snowboards and spend your last day snowboarding! Instruction hours and class sizes will be the same as booked for skiing. The ‘Snowboard Taster’ option can only be operated on the basis of the whole party participating. Available in most resorts, please telephone for confirmation. |
